Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween. Love Owen.

P.S. Thank you Robert for the hilarious baby Owen picture.

Trick or Treats (47 weeks...)

Drew and I took Owen to the key west library for some Halloween fun. The bubble machine was a BIG hit. As you can see we didn't get much of a costume for Owen this year. Most costumes for babies are like big furry snow parkas, and they are way to hot for an island Halloween. We opted for a little monster onesie (with glow in the dark teeth).

Masquerade Parade

A mommy friend of mine lives in one of the most beautiful conch houses in key west. We were lucky enough to be invited over to her super comfy porch to watch the craziness of the annual masquerade parade as it went by.

Masquerade Parade...

Here are some snapshots from the crazy parade. The highlight of the parade had to be the final picture when a group of parade walkers broke out into a spot on rendition of Michael Jackson's Thriller. Awesome.

Fantasy Fest

Fantasy Fest is in full swing here on the island. Above are just a few snapshots of local decorations. Key West goes all out. You gotta love a town that celebrates Halloween for an entire week.

44 weeks...

This week Owen began feeding himself dinner. Its crazy messy but tons of fun watching him try to get the hang of using a spoon on his own. Bowls with suction cups on the bottom that stay in place are my new favorite baby item. Without them there would be less eating and more flinging of bowls across the room. We also started giving Owen more "real food" like cous cous, cheese and roasted sweet potato. He even enjoyed bits of pot roast at grandma's. Its fun watching him try new tastes and textures.
Owen has started standing on his own. It only lasts for a few minutes though. He seems to fall down as soon as he realizes he is not holding on to anything. His favorite thing right now is clapping. He LOVES when everyone starts clapping, and he will immediately join in. Kisses are also being given but they are sloppy and open mouthed...and completely adorable.
Being Owen's mommy is the best thing EVER.
